Hi I am Monica Velasquez; my passion for writing began at a very young age. My writing allows me to make connections with many people by illustrating our beautiful Mexican cultural richness. Writing stopped for me when I moved to Texas from Florida during my high school years. After I became bilingual teacher, which I am currently a kinder teacher at Zavala Elementary for the past 16 years. The idea of writing again didn’t spark until my kindergartners ignited the “fire” in me once again. Writing means to be able to bring my experiences and ideas to life. I recently became a self-published author of the children’s book “The Wait Until Sunday for Pan Dulce”. I enjoy writing stories that relate to our Mexican traditions and heritage. I live in Texas with my husband; Beto of 20 years and my 2 beautiful daughters; Mya and Sophia. I also have a 2 year old Cane Corso that loves to be with us at all times.
